FAQ on Hair Extensions:

As understanding what sort of extensions you are thinking of attaching and knowing what you should expect from them is very important. When it comes to how long they will last? or how you will take care of them? Because the world of hair extensions can be a minefield for anyone who has not tried them before or who has been misinformed.

The extensions are artificial additions to your hair. Unlike wigs, extensions don’t have the function to create a hairstyle on the head, but too thicken or lengthen the hair already present. We have gathered the most difficult questions any girl or women have faced to decide whether or not to get hair extensions:

1. How to apply extensions?

When it comes to applying extensions there are different ways of application. The procedure for applying the extensions is different for each such as, keratin or adhesives:

  • Clipped: Although this type of hair extensions are commonly referred as more uncomfortable than other options, they certainly are the easiest to put on. Just grab the top side of your hair strands, and clip them to your natural hair! Repeat this process as many times you want according to the amount of volume you wish to achieve. You can remove this and apply again daily.
  • Keratin/Fusion Bonding: For Keratin-based extensions, divide your hair in small strands. The lock in keratin should be placed under your lock of hair and then be dissolved with a special hair straightener. When it is warm and moldable, the keratin is folded with your fingers to fix it to your lock and then pressed to make it blend with your lock, to make the point of attack homogeneous. This method usually lasts from 3 weeks to 3 months depending on care.
  • Sticker/Tape: To apply Tape In Hair Extensions, divide your hair in small strands. One piece of adhesive is applied over your lock, and the other one goes underneath, like "a sandwich", so that your hair stays in the middle and the two adhesive locks adhere to each other. This method can last on the client's hair for 4 to 6 months.
  • Bonded Weft: If you're choosing to use bonding glue to attach your hair weave/bundles/wefted then you might want to consider whether you'd prefer single tied wefts or double tied wefts. Single tied wefts typically have less hair than double tied wefts - this has the advantage of there being less pull on your own growth hair and creating less bulk especially near the crown of your head. Double tied wefts typically have more hair than single tied wefts - this has the advantage of creating a fuller look, but sometimes double tied wefts may also contribute to the hair weaves appearing as bulky around the crown of the head, and having a natural look is always best. This type of install usually lasts 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Sew-In: Sew in hair weave is a type of hair weave that is attached to the wearer's head by means of sewing. Sometimes the weave is sewn into canerows (cornrows) on the wearers head, other times the hair weave is sewn onto a net (that has already been sewn onto the cornrows (canerows) on the wearer's head. If done correctly sew-in hair weave shouldn't cause any damage to your own growth hair. We recommend changing out these every 4 to 6 weeks.

2. May the hair be reused?

The extensions in keratin can not be reused, because during the removal the point of attachment breaks and the original hair strand flakes. With tape and clipped extensions,, pieces can be reused, if kept in good condition. Warning: replace the adhesive at each use!

With Clip Ins and Weft Extension, these can be reused again and again and again. With proper routine care for our Luxury Hair Extensions most clients get 2+ years of continuous use.

3. Will people know that I’m wearing extensions?

Absolutely not! It will be impossible to distinguish between your hair and extensions; If they are fitted correctly and hair colours match. If your hair has reflections, extensions can be combined with strands of different shades during the application. Sometimes you can see that a woman has extensions; it happens because she hasn’t chosen the colour appropriately, because the length wanted was too long compared to the length of the hair, or because the hair style you need to "connect" your hair to the extensions wasn’t done/installed properly to give a flawless, natural look.

4. With a strong hair loss, could I make a stretch?

There’s a small probability of losing some hair when wearing extensions. It is important to remember that if you are losing hair and have extensions attached to it you will lose the extension as well.. In case you have thin but strong hair, you can use the extensions as thickening! In the event of a severe hair loss, it is better to avoid extensions and choose other types of solutions, such as a wig.

5. Will extensions ruin my natural hair?

In short: No. Extensions cover and protect hair from external stresses, such as smog, atmospheric agents and heat sources. The important thing to remember is to choose a quality over quantity of hair extensions, contact only hairdressers with experience in the blending process (if you’re going for keratin or adhesive extensions), professional colour experts (if you are planing on having the hair coloured) and do regular maintenance.

6. How long do the extensions last?

There is no standard answer: the duration depends on the type of extension and its maintenance. The extensions in keratin, when properly maintained, can last up to 6 months. The double-sided adhesive extensions, on the other hand, if kept in good condition, can be reused after having replaced the adhesive. The duration of the first applications can be up to 3-4 months, after which it is necessary to remove them and re-apply them. Clipped extensions are the ones that might last longer, depending on its usage. And wefted extensions lasts around 4 to 6 weeks installed, however, can be removed washed and re-installed a number of times.

7. How can I remove an extension?

If they are not clipped extensions, we recommend that you don’t remove extensions alone at home. Go to a specialized salon. The "do it yourself" way bares the risk of tearing away not only the extension, but also your hair. To remove extensions in keratin, you have to spray a specific product on the strand, let it act for a few seconds, then apply a light pressure for a breakdown of the keratin and remove the extension, using a comb if necessary. The procedure for regular extensions is similar: after applying the adhesive remover, you can detach the lock and remove any residual glue with a comb.

8. How can I do extensions maintenance?

Maintaining extensions is easy - just follow this simple rules of hairdressing:
At home, look for restructuring masks and use only recommended shampoos and conditioners. Devote to your extensions the same way you would have for long natural hair.
It is important to perform a periodic maintenance with your hairdresser once a month, to "clean" the strands..

9. Could I dye my extensions?

If you really wish to colour extensions you can and we always recommend choosing a professional colour expert to do this. Although our extensions can be bleached/dyed from #1B to #613, we do advise to try not to go far from the original colour, otherwise you might not get the expected results. Also, don’t repeat this process too often on the same extensions, and avoid discolouration.

10. Could I cut extensions?

Sure! The extensions can be cut and styled to look just like your hair as we provide only 100% Luxury Human Hair Extensions. But be careful not to cut it too much, because unlike your real hair ... the extension does not grow back!

11. How do you wash your extensions?

A little tale about dirty hair and shampoos.
Hair washing (whether the hair is on a wig, hair extension, or growth hair) is about removing oil (sebum) dust, or styling products from the surface of the scalp, hair and from between the hair strands.

It's the job of shampoo products to trap the oil, styling product build-up and dust and carry it away when rinsed.

In other words, you, your hair and your scalp will all be better off if you're gentle when washing.

Any ordinary shampoo, or conditioning shampoo can be used but get one that doesn't Sodium Lauryl Sulphate or Sodium Laureth Sulphate, Alcohol or Parabens - these ingredients are quite harsh for your own growth hair, much less hair extensions.

Clarifying shampoos can also be used but ideally no more than once a month. Their super cleaning abilities are down to the fact that they contain more cleaning agents (surfactants) than ordinary shampoos.

However the downside to this is that if they're used frequently, they can cause your dyed sew in hair weave to fade more quickly.

This is a guide only, you can take the answers to any of these questions and use them, or you can leave the information and go whatever makes you feel most comfortable and confident.

As we said before ultimately it's about having hair that you can wear with confidence.
